A new watch which comes equipped with a deployant buckle (termed DB for short) usually requires a little setting up by its new owner. That is, if it has not already been done by the watch shop staff before leaving the shop.
Assuming it has not been done, setting up a watch leather band and deployant buckle is a fairly easy task.
The following is a step-by-step guide for setting this up. In this exercise, the Ball Trainmaster Worldtime Chronograph was used as an example as it features the butterfly-folding clasp commonly found on most other watch models.

How to Set Up a Deployant Buckle
1. Ensure that the folding clasp is in the open position.2. Take the steel loop (the part with the classy double-R insignia)…3. …and pry open the steel loop assembly.4. You will see a fixed pin which will later be penetrated on the appropriate hole on the watch leather band shown in the following steps.5. With the steel loop still open, run the free end of the watch leather band into the steel loop…6. …and push the steel loop pin into the appropriate hole on the watch leather band. You may need to do a trial and error to see which hole leads to a good fit on your wrist. In my case, the last hole fits best on my wrist for comfort and stability. On different watch bands, different hole position may apply.7. Replace the steel loop assembly to its close position, making sure that it clicks shut securely.8. With the watch on the wrist, fold and close both sides of the folding clasp and lock it into position. Run the free end of the watch band into the leather loops on the other side of the band. The complete look is as shown above.
That is all there is to it! If the watch feels tight or too loose around the wrist, redo Steps 2 to 7 above to readjust the pin hole on the watch strap. Ideally, the watch should wrap snugly around your wrist without choking it, or should not have too much freeplay moving around the wrist at every flip of your arm.
